San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama is currently recovering from a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) that was discovered in his right shoulder.

Despite this setback, Wembanyama is hopeful that his recovery will progress well enough for him to participate in this summer’s EuroBasket tournament.

The 2025 EuroBasket tournament is scheduled to take place from August 27 to September 14, with the games hosted in four countries: Cyprus, Finland, Latvia, and Poland.

French national team coach Frederic Fauthoux spoke about Wembanyama’s situation, stating, “We spoke with Victor before his surgery – he’s motivated to be part of the team. We’ll see how he progresses physically, and we’ll make the decision when the time is right. Until then, things remain uncertain. But he’s feeling good, and everything is going well with his rehab.”

While the final decision on whether Wembanyama will join the team remains uncertain, the coach expressed confidence that Wembanyama is in good spirits and that his rehabilitation is progressing as planned.
