Pistons forward Ausar Thompson appears poised for a strong finish to the season after working his way back from a significant medical setback, writes Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News in a mailbag column.
Thompson faced a challenging road to recovery after experiencing blood clots late in his rookie year, which kept him sidelined for an extended period.
Once he was medically cleared to return in November, the Pistons took a cautious approach, limiting him to 20 minutes per game as he worked through lingering fatigue and regained his conditioning.
Now, with more playing time and a defined role, Thompson has started to find his rhythm, particularly as a secondary playmaker.
Over the past eight games, he has contributed across multiple facets of the game, averaging 13.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per night.
