The San Antonio Spurs have officially signed veteran center Bismack Biyombo to a 10-day contract. The move comes as the Spurs seek to bolster their depth at the center position behind their young star, Victor Wembanyama.
This decision follows the trade of Zach Collins and the ongoing knee injury of Charles Bassey, leaving the team with limited options in the frontcourt.
Biyombo, who has not played in the NBA this season, brings significant experience to the Spurs.
In the previous season, the 32-year-old center split his playing time between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder, offering both teams a reliable presence in the paint.
For his career, Biyombo has averaged 5.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
Known for his defensive tenacity and rebounding ability, he has played for several teams during his NBA journey, including the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets, Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, and Phoenix Suns, in addition to his recent stints with the Grizzlies and Thunder.
Biyombo’s experience and defensive prowess could provide valuable depth for the Spurs during the remainder of the season.
