Jamal Crawford has been officially confirmed as the lead game analyst for NBC and Peacock starting next season, a significant announcement made by NBC Sports on Tuesday.
This move follows a report by The Athletic last month, which revealed that NBC had secured a deal with Crawford to bring him into the fold for their upcoming NBA broadcasts.
This marks a major milestone for NBC, which has not partnered with the NBA for broadcasts since 2002.
However, as part of a new arrangement beginning in the 2025/26 season, NBC is one of three companies – along with Disney (ABC/ESPN) and Amazon Prime – that has reached an agreement with the NBA to handle its media rights moving forward.
This new arrangement reflects a shift in the NBA’s broadcasting strategy, diversifying its partners and expanding its digital presence, and sets the stage for NBC’s return to the NBA spotlight after a long hiatus.
As the network prepares for its return to NBA coverage, it is in the process of assembling a robust team of play-by-play commentators, game analysts, and studio analysts.
Crawford, who is expected to contribute to multiple broadcasts each week, will play a pivotal role in shaping the network’s basketball programming.
His experience with TNT Sports, NBA TV, and MSG Network ensures that his insights and commentary will bring a fresh and experienced perspective to NBC’s broadcasts, elevating the viewing experience for fans.
In an official statement, Crawford expressed his excitement about the new role, emphasizing the personal connection he feels to NBC’s historic NBA coverage.
“I’m beyond excited to be joining the NBC Sports family and contributing to their new NBA package,” Crawford said. “I grew up reenacting the game highlights that I watched on the network’s classic NBA broadcasts, so to now be a part of the broadcast team that will bring the game to a new generation of fans is a true honor.”
Crawford also praised NBC’s track record of high-quality sports productions, noting, “NBC Sports has an exceptional reputation for top-notch productions across the board, and I’m thrilled to be a part of what promises to be an exciting new era of basketball content.”
