Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton have been cleared to make their Los Angeles Lakers debut tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers. NBA insider Shams Charania reported that all physicals for the Lakers-Nets four-player trade have been completed, enabling the two newcomers to suit up.
The pair joined the Lakers as part of a deal that sent D’Angelo Russell and Maxwell Lewis to the Brooklyn Nets. Both players are expected to bolster Los Angeles’ depth as the team battles through an injury-plagued roster.
Finney-Smith brings defensive versatility and three-point shooting to the table. The forward has built a reputation as a reliable two-way player capable of guarding multiple positions. Milton, on the other hand, adds ball-handling and scoring capabilities, which will be crucial for a Lakers squad dealing with several absences.
The Lakers are dealing with significant injury concerns, with six players on the injury report ahead of the game. Anthony Davis is listed as questionable with a left ankle sprain, while LeBron James, battling an illness, is also questionable.
Jalen Hood-Schifino, Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, and Christian Wood will all miss the game. Hood-Schifino is out with a left hamstring strain, Vanderbilt continues his recovery from right foot surgery, and Wood is recovering from left knee surgery. Vincent’s left oblique strain has him sidelined as well.
Despite these challenges, the Lakers have won five of their last six games, including victories over the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. They currently hold an 18-13 record, sitting seventh in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers are riding a seven-game winning streak and lead the NBA with a 24-8 record. Recent wins against the Denver Nuggets and Warriors have solidified their position as the league’s top team.
Tonight’s game at Crypto.com Arena is set to tip off at 09:00 ET. All eyes will be on Finney-Smith and Milton as they look to make an immediate impact and help the Lakers overcome the Cavaliers’ formidable challenge.
