Maccabi moves EuroLeague home games to Cyprus

Maccabi Tel Aviv will play its EuroLeague home games at the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center in Limassol, Cyprus, after receiving official approval, the club announced Wednesday, November 4. The move ends its three-year period of hosting home games in Belgrade, Serbia.

Maccabi’s first game at the new venue will be the Israeli derby against Hapoel Tel Aviv on November 12. The club said the arena can accommodate approximately 8,000 spectators following renovations ahead of EuroBasket 2025.

The club has approval to admit up to 3,000 Maccabi supporters and 1,500 local spectators per game. Season-ticket holders will receive coupon codes offering a 25% discount, with the club saying ticket-sale information will follow.

Maccabi said the relocation is intended to bring games closer to its supporters and draw on the Israeli community in Cyprus. The flight from Israel to Larnaca or Paphos takes approximately 45 minutes, according to the club.

Jimmy Clark III leads Maccabi with 14 points per game, while Yam Madar averages 11.9 points and a team-high 4.7 assists. Roman Sorkin contributes 11 points per game, and Bonzie Colson averages 10.7 points while shooting 47.2% from three-point range.

Before opening its Cyprus home schedule, Maccabi is due to visit Partizan Belgrade on November 6. The November 12 derby against Hapoel will be its first home game in Limassol.

The club also thanked the Serbian public, Belgrade, local staff, security services and Crvena Zvezda and Partizan for their assistance during its three years in the country.
