Cade Cunningham delivered a commanding performance with 29 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons defeated the New York Knicks 120-111 on Saturday night. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Pistons and marked Cunningham’s fifth triple-double of the season.
Malik Beasley contributed 23 points off the bench, hitting 7-of-10 three-pointers, while Jaden Ivey added 16 points. Detroit improved to 10-15 on the season, relying on strong ball movement and timely defense to overcome New York.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 31 points and 10 assists, and Mikal Bridges added 20 points, but it wasn’t enough to extend New York’s four-game winning streak. The Knicks were without Karl-Anthony Towns, sidelined with a sore knee, and lost Josh Hart late in the game to an ejection following his second technical foul.
Detroit dominated early, shooting 57% from the field in the first half, including 13-of-23 from beyond the arc. Cunningham scored 21 of his 29 points before halftime, helping the Pistons establish a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter.
New York responded with a 27-14 run to close the third, cutting the deficit to four heading into the final period.
Defensively, the Pistons capitalized on New York’s mistakes, forcing 15 turnovers and limiting their bench contributions. Detroit also received solid production from Isaiah Stewart, who grabbed five rebounds and added six points in 23 minutes.
For New York, Jericho Sims started in place of Towns but played just six minutes without scoring. Precious Achiuwa came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds but struggled at the free-throw line, shooting 2-of-5.
With this win, the Pistons remain competitive in the Eastern Conference, while the Knicks, now 14-9, look to regroup as they await Towns’ return.
