Jock Landale is expected to draw significant attention on the free-agent market following a productive 2025/26 campaign, but Atlanta would prefer to keep the veteran center.
According to Michael Scotto, the Hawks face financial limitations in negotiations, as they only hold Landale’s Non-Bird rights after he played last season on a minimum contract, restricting how much they can offer without using an additional cap exception.
Atlanta has also explored the trade value of Jonathan Kuminga ahead of a decision on his $24.3 million team option for next season.
League sources indicate the Hawks have checked with rival teams about potential deals involving the former No. 7 overall pick, though Scotto notes that Kuminga remaining with the franchise, either by playing under the option or agreeing to a new contract, remains a “real possibility.”
In addition to owning the eighth pick in the draft, the Hawks hold the No. 23 selection and have reportedly investigated opportunities to move up the board.
Sources tell HoopsHype that Atlanta has been active in exploring potential trade-up scenarios as it evaluates its draft options.
As for free agency, while the Hawks were recently linked to Austin Reaves, Scotto reports that Atlanta is not currently viewed as a likely destination for the Lakers guard.
Although the team has shown some level of interest, the expectation around the league is that the chances of the Hawks becoming a serious contender for Reaves are relatively slim.
