Jose Alvarado says he would be willing to visit the White House if the Knicks receive an invitation and decide to attend as a team.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, the Knicks guard made it clear that he would follow the lead of his teammates rather than make an individual decision on the matter.
“If there’s a chance, I’m going wherever my teammate goes,” Alvarado told TMZ Sports while leaving iHeart studios in New York.
His comments come just days after the Knicks defeated the Spurs in the NBA Finals to secure the championship, triggering celebrations across New York City.
While championship teams have traditionally been welcomed at the White House, the custom has become more divisive in recent years, with some teams declining invitations or sending only select members.
No official invitation has been announced for the Knicks so far, although President Donald Trump attended Game 3 of the Finals at Madison Square Garden after being invited by team owner James Dolan.
Alvarado’s response suggests he is focused on supporting the group’s decision rather than taking a personal stance.
For now, his attention is on the Knicks’ championship parade in Manhattan on Thursday, where he told TMZ the team plans to “party like rockstars.”
