Norman Powell’s 23 points led the Los Angeles Clippers to a 102-99 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, snapping the Warriors’ three-game win streak.
The Clippers, now 8-7, earned their fifth consecutive home victory despite a late surge by Golden State.
James Harden contributed 12 points and a season-high 16 assists for Los Angeles, while Ivica Zubac dominated the boards with 17 rebounds.
The Clippers built an early lead and held on, even as Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins combined for 48 points to fuel a Warriors rally.
Golden State, which fell to 10-3, trailed most of the game but nearly completed a comeback in the closing moments.
Curry missed a potential game-tying three-pointer, and Gary Payton II’s last-second attempt also fell short, preserving the Clippers’ win.
The Warriors struggled with efficiency, shooting just 36.4% from beyond the arc. Curry, playing through left knee bursitis, led Golden State with 26 points, hitting 6-of-15 three-pointers, but had just eight points in the first half.
Powell was instrumental in the fourth quarter, hitting three key three-pointers after briefly exiting in the first half with a hamstring issue.
The Clippers’ bench also stepped up, outscoring Golden State’s reserves 45-28, with Amir Coffey adding 15 points.
The Warriors’ only lead came on a Lindy Waters III three-pointer to start the game. Golden State trailed 75-72 entering the final quarter but couldn’t overcome their shooting woes and turnovers, committing 19 giveaways on the night.
For Los Angeles, Derrick Jones Jr., Terance Mann, and Nicolas Batum chipped in with a combined 26 points.
The Clippers capitalized on their defensive pressure, limiting Golden State’s supporting cast and holding them to 44% shooting overall.
The win marked a turnaround for the Clippers, who opened the season with four consecutive home losses. Los Angeles now sits one game above .500 and will look to extend their home dominance as they gain rhythm with their full roster.
