The Washington Wizards have chosen not to exercise Johnny Davis’s team option for the 2025-26 season, which would have been his fourth year under his rookie contract. As a result, Davis will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025.
If the Wizards decide to re-sign Davis, they’ll be restricted to offering him no more than $6.7 million as a starting salary, matching the value of his declined option.
Washington is also preparing for a potential $30 million in cap space next offseason, and with GM Will Dawkins stating the team is still in a “deconstruction phase,” more roster adjustments are expected throughout the season.
