Ausar Thompson, Pistons await NBA clearance after blood clot

Unfortunately, Ausar Thompson’s rookie season with the Detroit Pistons was cut short due to a significant health issue involving a blood clot.

This unforeseen condition led to a premature end to what was shaping up to be an impactful first year in the NBA.

In the meantime, Thompson has been progressively ramping up his training regimen, aiming for a return to the court.

However, both he and the Pistons are still waiting for the necessary clearance from the NBA and the Fitness to Play panel before he can officially resume playing.

As a result, Thompson was unable to participate in the Pistons’ season opener against the Indiana Pacers, marking a disappointing start for both him and the team.

During his time on the court last season, Thompson showcased his potential across 63 games.

Standing at 6 feet 7 inches tall, the versatile wing player averaged an impressive 8.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and nearly a block per game, all while playing around 25.1 minutes per outing.

His contributions were a promising sign for the Pistons, who were eager to see how he would develop.

Unfortunately, his rookie campaign came to an abrupt halt in mid-March due to a serious blood clot issue, leaving fans and the organization hopeful for his swift recovery and return to action.
