Jaylen Brown is launching his own performance brand called 741, reports Ben Felderstein of Complex. The Boston Celtics star turned down over $50 million in endorsement deals to create his brand.

Brown’s decision is rooted in his desire for full ownership and creative control. He believes that ownership is crucial for the next generation of athletes.

According to Brown, 741 is more than just a sneaker brand; it’s about independence, creativity, and ownership.

The name 741 holds a personal meaning for Brown, symbolizing spiritual awakening, hard work, and new beginnings.

Brown’s decision to create his own brand is inspired by Kobe Bryant’s vision of starting his own sneaker line.

In recent years, Brown has voiced his dissatisfaction with Nike’s handling of certain issues. He specifically expressed displeasure with how Nike treated Kyrie Irving.

Brown continued to wear Nike sneakers but covered the logo with symbolic images and messages.

With 741, Brown aims to make his products more accessible by lowering prices for big kids’ sizes by 40% compared to competitors.

The brand will focus on creating value for athletes, consumers, employees, and communities.

Brown’s announcement comes after months of speculation about the mystery sneaker he wore during offseason workouts and at Boston Celtics media day.
