The NBA has fined Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown $50,000 following comments he made criticizing officiating after the team’s Game 7 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, sources told ESPN.

Brown’s remarks came during a live stream shortly after Boston’s season-ending defeat to Philadelphia. The league ruled that Brown’s comments about the referees violated NBA rules on publicly criticizing officiating.

The fine adds another layer of frustration to a disappointing finish for the Celtics, who suffered a shocking first-round elimination after entering the postseason with championship expectations.

Boston was unable to recover after Philadelphia closed out the series in Game 7, ending the Celtics’ season much earlier than anticipated.
