When Jonas Valanciunas became an unrestricted free agent this offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers showed interest.

Despite speculation, the Lithuanian center signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Washington Wizards.

Insider Jovan Buha revealed that while Valanciunas was on LeBron James’ list, he was not a top priority for the Lakers.

“There was some interest obviously and he was on LeBron’s list so I think the Lakers will probably revisit that,” Buha said on his podcast.

Buha noted that other players, such as Wendell Carter, have emerged as more significant targets. “I don’t think there’s as much interest as a guy like Wendell Carter or some of these other guys that have popped up,” Buha added.

Valanciunas could still be a potential target for the Lakers at the trade deadline. However, Buha views him more as a mid-to-low tier trade option for Los Angeles.

Last season, Valanciunas averaged 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game with the New Orleans Pelicans.
