New Orleans Pelicans center Daniel Theis will not attend the team’s voluntary minicamp next week.

Pelicans beat writer Will Guillory reported that the entire roster is expected at the minicamp in California, except for Theis.

Guillory initially announced that the Pelicans would gather for the minicamp, but later clarified that Theis would be absent.

Theis, who signed a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the Pelicans, will miss this pre-season event despite joining the team this off-season.

Last season, Theis averaged 6.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1 assist per game while playing for the Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Clippers.

The 32-year-old center’s absence from the minicamp will not affect his upcoming season with New Orleans, but it is notable given the team’s plans.

The Pelicans’ voluntary minicamp is an opportunity for players to get acquainted with new teammates and systems.
