Free agent Malik Monk intends to sign a four-year, $78 million deal with the Sacramento Kings.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Monk’s deal includes a player option. Monk’s agents, Jeff Schwartz and Marcus Monk, negotiated the contract following the NBA Finals.

Monk had career-bests of 15 points and five assists last season. He was the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year runner-up.

Monk played the last two seasons under a $19.4 million contract with the Kings. His dynamic play off the bench attracted interest from various teams across the league.

This past season, Monk averaged 15.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.

Monk’s return is a significant offseason priority for Sacramento. The Kings managed to avoid free agency with the maximum contract they could offer Monk.
