Following the dismissal of Monty Williams from the Detroit Pistons, attention has turned to potential replacements, with former NBA player and current ESPN analyst JJ Redick emerging as a top candidate for the role.

The Pistons’ decision to part ways with Williams, despite his six-year deal signed just last summer, has sparked early speculation about who will fill the vacancy. James Borrego has been identified as another contender alongside Redick.

According to Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, “James Borrego could be a name to watch, league sources told Yahoo Sports, as well as ESPN analyst JJ Redick.”

Goodwill noted that Redick’s status as a prime candidate for the Lakers’ head coaching position could impact Detroit’s pursuit of him.

Redick shares a Duke University connection with Pistons’ new President, Trajan Langdon, and the two were previously together in New Orleans. Additionally, Pistons’ vice chairman, Arn Tellem, reportedly holds Redick in high regard.
