The Canadians qualified for the Paris Olympics by capturing a historic bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, marking a significant achievement in the team’s journey.
Head coach Jordi Fernandez emphasized the team’s commitment to continuous improvement as they strive to achieve greater success at the Paris Olympics.
“While winning bronze at the World Cup last summer was an important first step for our team, it also showed that we still have work to do as a group,” he said.
Following the training camp in Toronto, Canada’s journey will continue with an exhibition game against Team USA in Las Vegas on July 10.
The team’s rigorous schedule includes further preparations in France before facing tough competition in Group A at the Paris Olympics.
Canada’s opponents will include hosts France, Australia, and the winner of the Greece Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will most likely be the hosts or Slovenia.
