Several NBA teams are closely monitoring Julius Randle’s situation with the New York Knicks. The Knicks star could be put on the trading block if his contract extension talks with the team do not progress well.
NBA insider Shams Charania reported on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back that teams are keeping an eye on Randle. The center is under contract for the next season, but the following year includes a player option.
“Julius Randle, he’s got a player option in 2025,” Charania said. “Teams are monitoring this situation for sure, because how [the Knicks] handle that extension situation, if that is a conversation, what transpires, I think that will be interesting.”
This past season, Randle averaged 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. He was named an NBA All-Star for the third time in his career.
Randle’s season ended prematurely due to a shoulder injury in late January.
The Knicks face a crucial decision regarding Randle’s future with the team. Extension talks will likely play a significant role in determining whether he remains in New York.
