The Minnesota Timberwolves believe moving on from power forward Julius Randle could ultimately improve the team’s overall fit and offensive flow, according to Jon Krawczynski.

With Anthony Edwards focused on competing for a championship now, Minnesota is betting that redistributing Randle’s offensive workload will create more opportunities for other key contributors and lead to a more balanced attack.

“Edwards wants to win right now, and the Wolves are banking on addition by subtraction, believing that removing Randle’s ISO-heavy offensive game and redistributing his 15.3 shots per game to McDaniels and Reid will open things up for Minnesota in a different way.”

Randle has played 12 seasons for 4 teams, including the Knicks and Lakers. He has averaged 19.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 789 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 3 All-Star games and has won 1 Most Improved Player award.
