After months of toe recovery, Desmond Bane is feeling good and highly motivated for new beginnings starting next season.

As such, he declared that he will be ready for the Memphis Grizzlies heading to the team’s training camp this year. According to Damichael Cole of Memphis Commercial Appeal, Bane will also be available for preseason as he is now enjoying the green light to perform most basketball activities outside of the 5-on-5 scrimmages.

“I’m not quite cleared to play contact yet, but as far as working out on the court, I feel like my body is in a pretty good spot,” he said.

Bane required toe surgery this offseason as the injury bothered him throughout the entire 2022-23 season.

The injury didn’t entirely bother him as he was able to remain productive for the Grizzlies upon averaging a career-high 21.5 points to go with 5.0 boards, 4.4 assists, and 47.9 percent shooting. These numbers ultimately solidified his case to ink the most lucrative deal ever in Memphis history that is worth $207MM for five years.

With Ja Morant set to be suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season, Bane is highly expected to temporarily step up as the Grizzlies’ main offensive contributor with his well-rounded scoring ability.
