The Celtics opened the Eastern Conference Finals with a loss at home against the Heat (116-123). Boston dropped a 9-point halftime lead as the Miami won the third quarter by 21 points.

Marcus Smart, who had 13 points and 11 assists in Game 1, was asked what went wrong for the Celtics in the third quarter.

“We get tired of doing the little things sometimes,” Smart said. “I think that showed exactly what we were talking about earlier – our spacing. We have a lot of great players but when we’re all on top of each other nobody can be great.

“You got a good defensive team like Miami and they make you pay for that. So we gotta make sure we do those little things and we can’t get bored with those. We got to realize what has got us to lead or what was working for us.”
