The Miami Heat have maximized their offseason by making major moves to build a revamped roster for another championship campaign.
However, the franchise also has to give up assets to land a superstar, sending Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, and several round picks to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.
Meanwhile, Heat forward Nikola Jovic said he is surprised to be losing key teammates while also acquiring a superstar-caliber player.
“I was so used to seeing guys like Tyler [Herro] and Jaime [Jaquez Jr.], who were my really good friends. — My first thoughts for sure was ‘F*ck. We lost Tyler, Kel’el, Jamie and Kas.’ Then my second thought was ‘F*ck, we got Giannis.’ You’re just excited you get a chance to play with him,” Jovic said, via Locked on Heat podcast.
Jovic also shared early chemistry with Portis, as they have worked out in Las Vegas recently along with Klay Thompson.
“I worked out with Bobby for the first time in Vegas — I was a little scared, can’t lie the guy is a little scary…we were running pickup and I was with him (BP) and Klay — Bobby was talking crazy to Davion…I’m like ‘damn that’s who he is’…he’s one of those guys you hate playing against but love him being next to you…the guy wants to win,” he said, via Brendan Tobin.
The Heat had several major new additions, including Antetokounmpo, Portis, Thompson, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Nick Richards.
