The Lakers took a 2-1 lead in the first round series against the Grizzlies by winning Game 3 at home (111-101).

Los Angeles came out strong and had the best first quarter in the history of the franchise, winning it 35-9.

Anthony Davis, who led the Lakers in scoring with 31 points and 17 rebounds, said after the game that the first quarter was all energy and not tactical changes.

“It was all energy,” he said. “We came out with a sense of urgency, obviously knowing it was a big game for us and we came out pretty flat in Game 2.

“The crowd – first time playing in front of these Laker fans in a playoff game in a while – so we fed off their energy. They were great tonight. We just came out with a purpose on both ends of the floor to be excellent and it kind of carried us through the course of the game.”
