This year Nuggets’ forward Aaron Gordon was close to becoming an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career, but he did not make it.

While admitting, that it was tough to not make the All-Star Game, the 27-year-old player says it only made him more hungry.

“It hurt me not being in the All-Star game,” Gordon said, per Harrison Wind. “If I wasn’t focused on the mental aspect of it, understanding that it’s going to get greater later & there’s a bigger picture, it would have pulled me into a negative mentality…it actually made me that much more hungry.”

Gordon is averaging 17.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 30.3 minutes per game this season.
