Denver Nuggets veteran Tim Hardaway Jr. says that signing a 1-year minimum deal last summer turned out great, but admits it was a weird free agency overall.

“I mean, expectations came out great. I mean, playoffs. Able to compete for a championship. Everybody being healthy towards the end of the season. Individually, just trying to do the best I can to reach goals that I’ve done that I know I can do: shooting the ball, trying to make sure my percentage stays over 40 to the best of my ability at the three-point line. So a lot of that stuff, the expectations have been positive. In free agency, I mean, it was weird. It was a weird free agency. I think not only for myself, but for everybody.
“I mean, you have guys taking minimums and so on and so forth and guys that have been proven, averaged double figures in this league. And for them to take minimums, just bet on themselves, showed a lot about their class and how they are as a professional trying to go to a team to win. And for here, just having the comfort of knowing JJ Barea and Duds (Jared Dudley), the assistant coaches. I mean JJ, I was his teammate in Dallas when I got traded, and Duds was my assistant in Dallas. So just being able to have a couple of those guys here and knowing AG (Aaron Gordon) for a minute, it definitely helped out a lot.”
