The ongoing chaos around the Brooklyn Nets has convinced teams to be prepared for a potential Kevin Durant trade saga anew.
ESPN’s Zach Lowe opined on his the Lowe Post podcast (h/t HoopsHype) that the “whole league is ready now to reengage” in trade talks about the future hall of famer.
“I don’t think this is going to be fast. I don’t know that it will ever really happen. But I know that the whole league is ready now to reengage on Kevin Durant… the vultures are gonna circle on Durant.”
Following embroiled events that occurred during the team’s previous offseason, Durant initially filed his request for a trade. But as several suitors weren’t able to meet the historical asking price by the Nets, the superstar forward ultimately pulled back – hoping that the new season will set goals straight for their ongoing hunt towards that elusive title.
But things didn’t go well as planned to their start. Brooklyn found itself dwelling at the bottom seed with a league-worst defensive rating. Ben Simmons, who returned after sitting out the entirety of the 2021-22 campaign, has been looking rusty and an absolute black hole on the offensive end. And lastly, the embattled Kyrie Irving stands in front of league controversy as he is facing his antisemitic consequences.
With Simmons still recovering from knee injury, Irving set to miss at least five games due to team suspension, and Steve Nash already parted ways, all eyes are certainly watching on how Durant will approach the challenges that the franchise is currently facing.
The season is still at its early portion, and more occurences can still occur that may stir or gradually stop the drama around the Nets brass.
