After getting booed by the Lakers fans on a number of occasions last season, Russell Westbrook received support from Los Angeles crowd in a loss against the Jazz.

Late in the fourth quarter the fans chanted ‘MVP’ as Russ was about to take free-throws. The former NBA MVP came off the bench to score team-high 28 points in 29 minutes of play. He also had 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.

After the game was asked about the MVP chants. “Honestly, I’m just grateful and blessed and I give all my thanks and all my credit to the man above for allowing me to be able to go out and compete good games, bad games off nights, good nights. I just let my play and my work speak for itself,” Westbrook said.

This season the 33-year-old point guard is averaging 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 34.7 minutes per game.
