The much awaited extension between Jordan Poole and the Golden State Warriors could be hammered soon.

In the recent The Athletic NBA Show podcast, Anthony Slater, a veteran insider of the Dubs, expects that both sides will reach mutual agreement “next week.”

“I do expect a contract extension to happen in the next week. Maybe Jordan is waiting for that to finally speak to us about the entire saga that has been this entire 10-day period for him.”

Following the Warriors’ preseason loss against the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach Steve Kerr made it known that he is optimistic for a contract extension to be handed to Poole – giving further signals that it’ll come soon.

“There’s a reason Jordan is who he is right now. Especially considering where he was coming out of Michigan, a late first-round pick, struggling his first few months in the league. There’s a reason he’s in this position, about to sign a big extension, hopefully. He’s just tough. He’s mentally tough and physically tough and ultra confident in his game.”

After being the last first-round pick of the 2020 Draft out of Michigan State, Poole clawed his way from being a project and improving player into an All-star-calibre guard for the Dubs.

Poole pushed his value upwards last season upon averaging 18.5 points, 4.0 dimes, 3.4 boards in 44.8 percent shooting from the field. In his first taste of a postseason appearance, he shined when it mattered the most and helped the Bay Area to revive its dynastic status in the NBA.

Though the Dubs own the tag of being highest-paying team amongst 30 teams, it appears that retaining Poole will remain significant and a priority on their side – considering what the long-term picture will display as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green continue to age.
