Over the last two years Christian Wood started every single game but one that he played for the Rockets. This season he will be suiting up for the Mavericks after getting traded to the team this offseason.

The 26-year-old center may have to accept a different role in Dallas though. Head coach Jason Kidd said that he plans Wood to come off the bench. “I don’t need him to be ‘The Microwave.’ I just need him to be C. Wood,” he said, per Tim MacMahon.

When the player learned about Kidd’s comments, he admitted that he has not heard about not being a starter. “This is my first time hearing about it,” Wood said.

Last season Wood averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 30.8 minutes per game for the Rockets.
