Giannis Antetokounmpo responded to Erik Spoelstra’s comparison of his playmaking ability to Magic Johnson, saying he appreciates the comment while making it clear that he does not put himself on the same level as the Lakers legend.
The Miami Heat star explained that Spoelstra is not the first coach who has been surprised by how much he can contribute as a passer.
“It’s a great compliment. I think I’m far away from Magic Johnson … it’s always fun to me – I think every coach that been around me say the same thing … they’re like ‘oh I actually didn’t know Giannis can pass the ball.’
“… J Kidd, Bud, Doc Rivers and now Coach Spo … so for me I take pride in making plays … it’s almost like I get a little dopamine hits when I’m able to get in the lane and find the open guy …”
