Russian veteran Sergei Monia has signed a three-year extension with Khimki Moscow Region, it was announced today. 

Monia’s extension on his contract means that he will remain with the 2012 Eurocup champions until 2018. 

And prolonging the veteran’s current deal will come as great news to Khimki fans ahead of their VTB League encounter on Sunday away to Zenit St. Petersburg as well as the Eurocup Eighthfinals, second leg clash against the same team.

The 31-year-old guard averages 7.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in the Eurocup this season, while in the in VTB League, he averages 8.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per showing. 

Away from the club scene, Monia is also a regular with the Russian national side, helping his country capture bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.
