The Houston Rockets have assigned Usman Garuba to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday, the team’s G League affiliate. 

A standout teenager from Spain, who is noted for his defensive prowess, Garuba was chosen by the Rockets with the 23rd pick of the 2021 NBA Draft. 

Averaging 1.7 points and 2.6 boards in 6.4 minutes in Houston, Garuba has the possibility to enjoy more exposure and develop his potential with the Vipers — who have a five-straight home games in the upcoming eight days. 

The Rockets are 1-13 in the West, currently at the lowest level of the league.
