Golden State Warriors are facing the Hornets Sunday night with Steph Curry returning to the place he was born to play in front of his family.

Curry’s father Dell is a color commentator for the Charlotte Hornets. The Warriors enter Sunday’s contest, having the best record in the NBA (11-1).

“You can always hear the support for him. He’s got a lot of family here, it’s always great to see Dell, and it’s a one-time deal. Once a year, we get to come back here,” Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said prior to the game.

Curry hasn’t played in Charlotte since the 2018-19 season. He was injured during the 2019-2020, participating in just five games. Last year, he was ruled out in the last minute and missed the opportunity to play at home.

“Last year, I think he was sick right before the game and wasn’t able to play, so that was hugely disappointing and really difficult for him to sit out. I’m really glad he’s ready to roll this year and it should be fun,” Kerr added.

The Warriors are hoping to continue their streak of fine form, being in a seven-game winning streak. The Hornets will play the second of a four-game homestand against Golden State.

Stephen Curry is entering Sunday’s game with averages of 28.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists through 12 games this season.
