Carmelo Anthony had a big game against the Charlotte Hornets as he dropped 29 points in 37 minutes of play coming off the bench. The 37-year-old forward has not started a single game for the Los Angeles Lakers so far this season, but his contribution is significant.

Over eleven regular season games, Melo is averaging 17.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1 assist per game. He receives lots of support from the Lakers fans and they are the reason why Anthony is coming off the bench, says head coach Frank Vogel.

“Our crowd is amazing with him. They’re keeping him out of the starting lineup because of the energy we get when he checks in, is something that I don’t want to mess with,” he said postgame.

“Obviously, there’s the temptation to move AD to the five, but I like what we’re getting with him coming off the bench. We just gotta continue.”
