Carmelo Anthony was the top performer for the Los Angeles Lakers among the players that started the game against the Orlando Magic on the bench. The 37-year-old forward scored 13 points in 25 minutes of play as his team won the game 106-94.

After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked about Anthony’s contributions in this game. “I love coaching Carmelo,” Vogel said. “He’s just steady, he does his job, he’s low maintenance, does what we ask him to do, really competed on the defensive side of the ball which is what everybody said that wasn’t his strength.

“He’s really locked into his coverage and give him maximum effort. He’s a professional shooter, just a big-time shooter, the ball finds him, you feel it’s going in every time he shoots it.

“And obviously he’s one of our if not our most savvy post players, one of our most savvy post players. He’s got the finishing ability, he’s got all the shot fakes, he knows how to seal. Really giving us a big lift. He’s been a real positive for us this year.”
