Carmelo Anthony had a big game coming off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers in a win over the Detroit Pistons as he scored 18 points in 30 minutes of play.
The 37-year-old veteran played a key role in encouraging his teammates to rally in the fourth quarter and win it by 20 points, which was enough for a five-point victory.
After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked about Anthony’s contributions to the team. “Melo’s been great for us. I can’t that say strongly enough,” he said.
“He really has been a champion for all the right causes of what we’re trying to get done – the defensive commitment and buy-in to try to play for each other, the effort and determination that we have to put forth each night.
“And he showed up in that stretch us well. He was the one that spoke up, along with others, to say like ‘We can’t let this turn out to be a loss. We got to rally around this.” So credit to him.”
