FIBA World Ranking Men

The FIBA Men’s World Rankings have been updated after the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

A total of five countries made a big jump and moved up at least 10 spots in the rankings, while only a couple teams dropped at least 10 spots in the rankings.

Some notable movers (up and down) in each continent:

Africa (Up)

  • Uganda: +8 spots to No. 90 after qualifying for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021
  • Tunisia: +4 spots to No. 30 after participating in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament
  • Cote d’Ivoire: +4 spots to No. 46
  • Guinea: +4 spots to No. 118

Africa (Down)

  • Equatorial Guinea: -7 spots to No. 145
  • Cape Verde: -5 spots to No. 100
  • Rwanda: -4 spots to No. 95
  • Egypt: -2 spots to No. 62

Americas (Up)

  • Costa Rica: +22 spots to No. 84 after participating in the FIBA World Cup Americas Pre-Qualifiers first and second rounds
  • Nicaragua: +19 spots to No. 97 after participating in the FIBA World Cup Americas Pre-Qualifiers first and second rounds
  • El Salvador: +12 spots to No. 121 after participating in the FIBA World Cup Americas Pre-Qualifiers first and second rounds
  • Uruguay: +4 spots to No. 40 after participating in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament
  • Bolivia: +4 spots to No. 113 after participating in the FIBA World Cup Americas Pre-Qualifiers first and second rounds

Americas (Down)

  • Barbados: -9 spots to No. 96
  • Guyana: -8 spots to No. 108
  • Antigua: -7 spots to No. 91
  • Brazil: -4 spots to No. 15 after not qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics through their Olympic Qualifying Tournament
  • Argentina: -3 spots to No. 7 after finishing seventh at the Tokyo Olympics

Asia (Up)

  • Syria: +10 spots to No. 82 after qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021
  • Guam: +8 spots to No. 77 after qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifying Tournaments for third-ranked teams
  • Japan: +7 spots to No. 35 after taking part in the Tokyo Olympics
  • Palestine: +6 spots to No. 83 after qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifying Tournaments for third-ranked teams
  • Saudi Arabia: +6 spots to No. 87 after qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifying Tournaments for third-ranked teams

Asia (Down)

  • India: -2 spots to No. 78
  • Singapore: -2 spots to No. 112

Europe (Up)

  • Slovenia: +12 spots to No. 4 after winning their Olympic Qualifying Tournament and finishing fourth at the Tokyo Olympics
  • Germany: +6 spots to No. 11 after winning their Olympic Qualifying Tournament and finishing eighth at the Tokyo Olympics
  • France: +2 spots to No. 5 after finishing runner-up at the Tokyo Olympics
  • Italy: +2 spots to No. 8 after winning their Olympic Qualifying Tournament and finishing fifth at the Tokyo Olympics

Europe (Down)

  • Andorra: -19 spots to No. 99 after having not competed at the continental or world level since 2018 outside of the European Championship for Small Countries that is currently taking place
  • Malta: -11 spots to No. 93 after having not competed at the continental or world level since 2018 outside of the European Championship for Small Countries that is currently taking place
  • Croatia: -7 spots to No. 21 after not qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics through their Olympic Qualifying Tournament
  • San Marino: -7 spots to No. 127
  • Albania: -6 spots to No. 105
  • Russia: -5 spots to No. 14 after not qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics through their Olympic Qualifying Tournament
