Andre Drummond came very close to signing with the Boston Celtics, before making his decision to join the Los Angeles Lakers.
As Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports, Drummond picked the Lakers over the Celtics in order to have a starting role in a top contender.
“The Celtics were considered the favorites to land Drummond off and on Friday and Saturday before he chose LA last night, per league sources.
Ultimately, he could not pass on the opportunity to start for a proven contender & be an immediate focal point as LeBron & AD remain out,” Weiss reports.
Drummond will sign with the Lakers in the coming hours after clearing waivers on Sunday.
