If the San Antonio Spurs work on a buyout with LaMarcus Aldridge, then the veteran forward will turn his focus on signing with a contending team.

According to Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, Aldrigde will look to sign with a top-tier team as ring-chasing will be the driving force in his decision.

The Miami Heat are rumored to be interested in the seasoned big, however several teams seem to be looking at the buyout market to add help to their front court.

Aldridge’s contract could make him difficult to move in a trade because he has a $24 million cap hit in his expiring deal.

In case of a buyout, he becomes a more affordable target for NBA teams over the cap, such as the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics or even the Los Angeles Lakers.

Aldridge is averaging 13.7 points on 46.4 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 21 games with the Spurs.
