Frank Vogel, the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, made a bold statement about his team’s star LeBron James after the win over the Charlotte Hornets in which the four-time NBA champion scored 37 points.

“He’s the best played to ever play the game in my opinion,” Vogel said. “I stated that. I think many feel that. And he continues to prove it with his play. It’s just that simple.

For him to do it this long through a change like you just mentioned too stylistically with the way the game is played now as opposed to even 4-5 years ago to still be this dominant, to still be the best player in the league it’s just remarkable.

“He’s doing a great job for us, the Lakers, to continue to win games and keep us afloat while a guy like Anthony Davis is out.”

James is averaging 25.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8 assists per game in his 18th season in the NBA at the age of 36.
