Anfernee Simons won the 2021 Slam Dunk contest during the All-Star Game festivities in Atlanta on Sunday. Simons took the trophy home having the approval of two-time dunk champion Zach LaVine.
Simons admitted he was seeking LaVine’s approval and that’s the reason he kept on talking to the Bulls’ superstar during the dunk competition.
The Blazers’ guard beat New York Knicks rookie Obi Toppin and Indiana Pacers swingman, Cassius Stanley, becoming the first player in the history of the franchise to win the award.
LaVine won the contest back-to-back in 2015 and 2016 offering some of the best dunks in the history of the contest, especially against the Orlando Magic high-flying forward Aaron Gordon.
