Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant has been fined $45,000 for repeatedly making inappropriate contact with a game official, the league announced.

Bryant, who received a technical foul for the incident, was attempting to confront Detroit Pistons’ Blake Griffin after Griffin threw Bryant to the ground in the preseason game on Dec. 17.

Griffin was given a Flagrant Foul 1 for his role in the incident.

Bryant is expected to be the Wizards starting center on opening night and play an important role for the team this upcoming season.

The 23-year-old averaged career-highs last season with 13.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.
