The Indiana Pacers wasted no time getting newly acquired Thomas Bryant onto the court. Just days after being traded to the team, Bryant made his debut against the New Orleans Pelicans, contributing seven points and two rebounds in 11 minutes of play.

This quick integration highlights the immediate need for depth at the center position for the Pacers, who have been hit hard by season-ending injuries to their big men.

“It was a little hectic, but everybody accepted me and they helped me through the whole time. It felt great being out there with the guys,” Bryant said, reflecting on his first game with his new team.

The veteran center, known for his physicality and presence in the paint, was eager to quickly adapt and contribute, and his teammates supported him throughout the transition.

Bryant’s role with the Pacers is particularly crucial given the team’s struggles at center this season. With Myles Turner, the team’s primary center, being the only healthy option, Bryant’s arrival provides much-needed depth in the frontcourt.

Before joining the Pacers, the big man had seen limited action with the Miami Heat, appearing in just 10 games this season. His move to Indiana comes at a time when the Pacers have been trying to strengthen their roster after two significant injuries to their centers.

“I know there’s a big need to have another ‘five’ here. Just trying to fill that role here with the guys and talking with them as well, just trying to see what I can bring, what I can do with them,” Bryant explained. “They just want me to play my game.”

His willingness to quickly adjust and play his part is a testament to his experience in the NBA, where he has previously played for teams like the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Lakers.
