Free agent Gordon Hayward is signing a four-year, $120 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hayward, 30, was regarded as one of the top names on the free agent market this offseason, as multiple teams were targeting him including the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.

This decision to sign with the Hornets is the biggest surprise of free agency so far, as it was believed that the Pacers were the favorite to land Hayward.

Last season, he averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics have lost two max contract players to free agency in the past two years, Kyrie Irving and now Hayward, Wojnarowski notes.
