The Houston Rockets will attempt to trade Russell Westbrook this offseason, according to an NBA executive.

The NBA executive believes the Rockets will choose to trade Westbrook and not James Harden for a few reasons.

“I can’t imagine they are keeping Harden and Russ together. Russ excels best as the best player on a team, and Harden needs outside shooters around him — not a ball-dominant guard. I think Russ will be the one traded,” the NBA executive said, via Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Rockets traded Chris Paul to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Westbrook in the summer of 2019, but the former MVP could not help the team reach the NBA Finals.

However, Houston lost to the Lakers in the second round of the playoffs (4-1) and Westbrook struggled on both ends of the floor.
