In an unexpected way, the Russian club signed a two-year deal with the American/greek player that represented Panathinaikos last year.

Andrey Vedishev, Lokomotiv Kuban’s president announced this signing on twitter this weekend after a week of negotiations with the young point guard.

Nick Calathes was a member of Panathinaikos in the last three seasons where he won two Greek championships, one Euroleague title in 2011 and several individual awards in national competitions.

He’s also a member of the Greek national team that will compete in the additional qualifying round for the Olympic Tournament that will be played this year in London
