Brooklyn Nets’ general manager Sean Marks has emphasized that securing Nic Claxton’s future with the team is their foremost objective as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Marks underscored Claxton’s importance, expressing the team’s commitment to building around the talented center.
“Nic is the No. 1 priority for us, there’s no doubt about that. We hope he’s a Net for a very long time. We hope we can continue to build around him and with him,” Marks said, via Michael Scotto.
With the 25-year-old poised to enter unrestricted free agency, the Nets are eager to solidify their roster by securing Claxton’s services for the long term.
Claxton’s imminent free agency follows the expiration of his two-year, $17 million contract with the Nets.
Throughout the recently concluded season, Claxton averaged 11.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
