EA7 Emporio Armani Milan fortified its frontline with Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion Shawn James, who is a former All-Euroleague selection.

The sides agreed to a two-year contract. James (2.08 meters, 30 years old) is the Euroleague’s career leader in averaged blocks with 1.55 per game. He has played his entire Euroleague career – 51 games over three seasons – with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv. James was limited to just 10 Euroleague appearances last season before a back injury prematurely ended his season in January. Nevertheless James, who started the season as the club’s captain, could be seen cheering loudly from the bench in Milan as Maccabi rallied to win the Euroleague. He averaged 9.8 points on 68.3% shooting plus 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for the season.

James was named to the 2012-13 All-Euroleague Second Team after leading the competition with 1.93 blocks per game. He has spent his entire professional career in Israel; before joining Maccabi in 2011, James spent three seasons with Bnei Hasharon. James set the NCAA’s single-season shot-blocking record with 6.5 rejections per game for Northeastern University in 2005-06.
